New York Travels

Yesterday a friend of mine and I went to New York for the day. We wanted to see Rockefellar Center set up for Christmas. It was awesome. We puttered around Midtown for a few hours before meeting another woman down at Macy's and then heading to dinner. We got home at 4 this morning.

Parties

Yesterday I had a few parties to attend. I made two out of three. This is my boss' Christmas tree.

Yes, that is a train running around a train track in his tree. That clever man made a platform to add to the tree and have the train in the tree. I thought it was awesomely cool!

My first party was a birthday party for a one year old. He did a good job of getting cake and icing all over himself. I love that about baby birthday parties.

I chose to ignore some drama going on at my boss' party. There are some days that I just don't want to get drawn into it.

But I had a good time and that is what counts!

dusty and purple

This morning I woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground! It was pretty when I got up to go to the grocery store at 8 am.

I forgot to get pie crusts for my chocolate pie that I'm making for a Christmas party tonight at my boss' house. Of course today when I baked off my shells, one decided to shrink down and so my pie filling has run over the shell. I'm still taking it to the party because it's food and not all of it has to be perfect.

I finally got a coat. Actually two coats, one was ordered online for when it gets really cold, wet, snowy and windy. My second coat is a purple pea coat. It's for days like today, in the 40's and relatively mild. Strangely, or not, both coats are shades of purple. I think my nieces are rubbing off on me, they both like purple..oh wait, could be the LSU in me..:)

fickle snow

I was out and about this afternoon, shopping for a coat. I have put it off getting a coat because it just didn't feel that cold up here in Connecticut. This week there was a dusting of snow on Monday.

Today there was another dusting of snow while I was driving around shopping. It snowed in Milford and Orange, but when I got back to Hamden and North Haven, not a bit of it.

That kinda made me sad. I wanted to get home and take some pictures of it snowing. Instead I went to the grocery store. I'm here for another 2 months, so I'm hoping to see some of the white stuff! And yes, I did get a coat.

Some days I look at work like this and I wonder what I could do to leave a permanent mark on the world. Then I wonder why I want to leave a permanent mark on the world.

Wouldn't it be better to leave the world better than you found it but with no way of knowing that you were there.

Let the Holidays begin

It's that time of year. Two weekends ago I was in NYC. The City was getting ready for Christmas.

This was taken at Grand Central Station.
